Eugène Galien-Laloue
Eugène Galien-Laloue (1854-1941) was a renowned French artist who is best known for his painted scenes of a lively, bustling Paris in the early 1900s, also known as 'la Belle Époque.' Laloue was one of the first painters to explore the limitless beauty of Paris, often referred to as the 'grand père' of today’s street scene painters in Paris.

Open through January 3, 2025, explore gallery artist David Kimball Anderson’s latest exhibition at the Bakersfield Museum of Art in California. Spanning more than thirty years of creative exploration, this body of work transforms everyday objects and industrial forms into vessels of memory and meaning. For Anderson, Bakersfield is more than a waypoint; it’s a place of return and reflection. Early drives along Highway 99, before the construction of Interstate 5, left lasting impressions of glowing diners, gleaming steel, and bustling farm stands that have long inspired his work. Untitled

The changing rhythm, coloration, and energy of nature have always inspired Linda Nisselson's art. Her work expresses emotions connected to a location rather than a specific image. Berkshire landscapes that she grew up around, as well as places she has traveled, are reflected in her paintings. Nisselson works on a painting until it develops a life of its own. She paints to transform memories of what she has seen and felt into color, shape, and line. While painting, she feels the strokes are choreographed and there is a conversation with color. Sometimes she enhances the work with vibrant hits of complementary colors by overlapping and brushing them on top of one another. Marks, scratches, and smudges come rapidly with an energy that keeps the strokes alive. Nisselson's paintings have been exhibited throughout the country in museums and galleries. Her work is also part of numerous private and public collections, many of which are in Fortune 500 companies.
