Madelyn Jordon Fine Art is pleased to kick off the spring art season with a group exhibition, entitled “Gentlemen…..Start Your Engines!” from February 27 – April 3, 2010. We welcome the collector to seize this opportunity to view and purchase highly prized works by a selection of the finest Modern and Contemporary artists. The public is invited and private showings are by appointment only.

The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, sculpture, and works on paper, spanning from the 1920s thru the present, by over 10 artists working in a variety of genres. This is MJFA’s first show with a focus on secondary market works by prominent collectible artists.

Exhibition highlights include works from the 1970’s through the 1990’s by several important artists, including an Alexander Calder airplane design in gouache for Braniff Airlines; an oil and mixed media painting by abstract artist Stanley Boxer, whose retrospective exhibition is currently on view at the Housatonic Museum of Art, in Bridgeport, CT; a poured and spray-gun painting by abstract painter Dan Christensen; and a large-scale chevron shaped canvas by the iconic American Color field painter Kenneth Noland.

Highlights by contemporary artists include two early staged photographs by Gregory Crewdson from his “Natural Wonder Series”; a graphic painting, richly layered with musical notes by James Meyer, an exuberant wreath sculpture by contemporary sensation Agathe Snow, recently exhibited at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, KS; and an elegant painting by Chinese-American artist, Su-en Wong.

The exhibition promises an exciting variety of prized works by a select group of accomplished Modern and Contemporary artists, highlighting the broad range of artistic practices in New York today.
