Originally hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Silvia Levenson relocated to Italy in 1981 amidst the turmoil of the Dirty War, a period marked by widespread human rights violations and forced disappearances. Her artistic practice delves deeply into the complexities of daily interpersonal relationships, using installations and objects to give voice to emotions and truths that are often left unspoken or merely whispered.

Levenson's work centers on the exploration of hidden, unspeakable spaces—those intimate, liminal realms that exist between what is visible and what is felt. Through her use of glass, she transforms this fragile, transparent medium into a powerful tool for uncovering and exposing what typically remains concealed. Her pieces challenge viewers to confront the tensions, vulnerabilities, and silences embedded in human connections, encouraging reflection on both personal and collective experiences.

In 2004, Levenson received the Rakow Commission Award from the Corning Museum of Glass in 2008 she was a shortlisted nominee for the Bombay Sapphire Prize and in 2016 she received The Glass in Venice Award from Istituto Veneto, Venice, Italy. Her work has been exhibited around the world and is a part of several public collections like Corning Museum of Glass, New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fè, Houston Fine Art Museum, Toledo Museum of Art, Mint Museum, Charlotte, Chrysler Museum of Art, Sunderland Glass Museum, UK, Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires, Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung, Munich, MUDAC, Lausanne and Castello Sforzesco Museum, Milan.
