Wosene Kosrof's 20th Annivesary Solo Exhibition
Hoshigaoka Gallery, Kochi, Japan

After his major summer success at London's Gallery of African Art (GAFRA), Wosene will have an exhibition of new works in,  "WordPlay: Future Tense" at Hoshigaoka Gallery in Kochi, Japan. The exhibit opens October 17th, 2015 and runs through November, 8, 2015.

Over his long career, the Ethiopian-born artist has developed a recognized style and signature that bridge cultures and speak intimately to audiences around the world.  In new works created for this show, such as the lead painting, "The Lemon Tree", Wosene continues to expand his innovative interpretations of Amharic script in compositions that become illuminated landscapes of color and form. The black/white background forms a backdrop for fluid movements of letters across the canvas, producing inviting points of entry into the work. The viewer can easily move into a scene of dramatic, yet playful, shapes that portray visual rhythms within a masterfully imagined vocabulary of poetic forms.  If you live in or are visiting Japan, be sure to see Wosene's 20th anniversary exhibition at Hoshigaoka Gallery.
