Madelyn Jordon Fine Art is pleased to present an exhibition of fine art and design at the gallery in Scarsdale, NY. The show pairs the work of two contemporary artists, LINDA TOUBY and MOUNA CHAMARIQ. While working in disparate mediums, painting and sculpture, both artists employ vivid color, sensual surfaces and simplified forms to express their artistic sensibilities.

Linda Touby"s abstract paintings are meditative in size and seductive in color. The artist pairs intuitive brushstrokes with bold, horizontal bands of vibrant color offering a sense of balance and harmony. The restrained, calming palette of earth tones gains intensity and an illusion of spatial depth and volume through the artist"s employment of Renaissance techniques of layering the surface with wax, dry pigment and thick glazes. At times Touby"s wild, visceral brushstrokes reclaim an expressionist spirit. These combined qualities bring her canvases to life, gently pulling the viewer into the depths of the artist’s subconscious.

A native of Florida, Touby moved to New York as a teenager where she began her studies at the Pratt Institue in Brooklyn. She continued training at the Art Student"s League and later the National Academy of Art. Touby"s works have been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions at museums and galleries internationally including the Museum Fur Konkrete Kunst Ingolstadt (1999), Germany. Her paintings have been incorporated in many public collections, including General Motors Corporation, Phillips Corporation.

Westchester artist Mouna Chamariq was born in Casablanca, Morocco (1971), a city of rich cultural traditions. After secondary school in Morocco she moved to Paris to study art, attending the renowned design school, Ecole Nissim de Camondo, and received a degree in product and interior design. After extensive travels in Europe, Chamariq and her husband came to America. She joined a prominent interior design firm in Philadelphia, where she developed innovative design concepts for major commercial projects. The artist moved to Westchester last year, and maintains an interior design practice in Larchmont. In 2004, she designed her first collection, "ELYA" of limited edition ceramic sculpture which were handcrafted by skilled artisans in Marakkesh, Morocco. They are functional (as candles, boxes and bowls) as well as beautiful. She states, "My products combine traditional craftsmanship with visually seductive contemporary forms."…It is a synthesis of ethnic and modern with an emphasis on clear lines that have a remarkable timeless appeal. All products are designed to complement each other, creating a harmonious family.
