Lucy White

Lucy White's work incorporates an eclectic range of materials, from organic elements such as leaves, dirt, and seaweed to everyday household items including dishcloths, Handi-Wipes, Band-Aids, and Kotex, as well as consumer objects like thongs, vibrators, Tootsie Rolls, Zip-Loc bags, and rabbit's feet. Across bodies of work spanning more than three decades, from organic resin paintings and schematic Band-Aid imprints to her more recent loose portrait sketches on felt, White has consistently examined the American myth and the construction of women's identity within it. Her work has been exhibited at major galleries and museums throughout the United States such as the Portland Museum of Art, Rose Museum of Art, and Bernard Toale Gallery.
