Madelyn Jordon Fine Art is pleased to present MATERIAL CONVERSATIONS, an exhibition of new works by JOYCE BARKER-SCHWARTZ, MARYLYN DINTENFASS, AMY FEIGLEY-LEE, WOSENE WORKE KOSROF, and SHERYL ZACHARIA on view from Jan 16 – Feb 28, 2026. An opening reception happy hour will be held on Friday, Jan 16, from 3–5 PM. This marks the first joint exhibition between the artists, and the public is welcome to attend.

Featuring a selection of new works by these five artists, MATERIAL CONVERSATIONS presents a dialogue between artworks of diverse mediums, forms, and art practices. From collaged wood and ceramic geometric sculptures, woven and painted fiber works and acrylic abstractions, they were created with meditative processes that result in dense, layered works of optical beauty and depth. While each artists’ approach and motivation is unique, the final composition is an act of artistic expression, a rich visual experience that links these different works together.

Joyce Barker-Schwartz is a fiber artist renowned for her intricate, multi-step weaving technique, uniquely developed to explore the intersection of thought and form. Through a process rooted in personal reflection and sharp observation, she constructs layered, recurring narratives within her work. 

Marylyn Dintenfass work is marked by bold gestural strokes, rich color saturation, and a masterful interplay of spontaneity and control. Through her distinctive fusion of abstraction, geometry, color, and texture, her work captures the energy of the natural world while echoing the structured rhythms of contemporary life.

Amy Feigley-Lee’s work reimagines geometric abstraction through dynamic wall sculptures and intricate collages.  Drawing inspiration from geometric minimalism, Feigley-Lee’s work merges clean lines with the vibrant patterns of vintage wallpaper, balancing minimalist precision with decorative complexity. Using wood as her primary sculptural medium, she constructs layered, multidimensional geometric compositions that challenge perspective from every angle.

Wosene Worke Kosrof’s canvases are multi-layered with paint and imagery, best known for utilizing the Amharic script, one of the world’s oldest languages, as a root element in fine art paintings. American jazz improvisations are evident in the active syncopation of the surface of many Wosene paintings. There is rich dialogue between the simplified letter forms and symbols that are intensely worked creating color-drenched textured surfaces of visual power.

Sheryl Zacharia’s table-sized ceramics are a conversation between geometry and fluidity. Blending technical brilliance with a lyrical approach inspired by nature, music and painting, each hand-built sculpture reflects Zacharia’s fascination with form, color, and pattern.
