CV

Stanley Boxer (1926-2000) was born in New York City. He was best known for his thickly painted abstract works of art. Also, an accomplished sculptor and printmaker, Boxer's work was recognized by art critic Clement Greenberg, who categorized him as a color field painter. The titles of his work were verbal attempts to capture the movement and gestures in his works. Boxer had a highly successful, 40 year career, and is included in numerous important public and private collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Guggenheim Museum.
