Josef Albers
Josef Albers (1888-1975) was an educator and artist whose work (both in the U.S. and Europe), formed the basis of some of the most influential and far-reaching art education programs of the twentieth century. He worked from 1908 to 1913 as a schoolteacher in his hometown. He trained as an art teacher at Konigliche Kunstschule in Berlin, Germany from 1913 to 1915. From 1916 to 1919, he began his work as a printmaker at the Kunstgewerbschule in Essen. In 1918, he recieved his first public commission.
