Gregory Crewdson
GREGORY CREWDSONÂ Â (1962-Present)
Gregory Crewdson is an American photographer who is widely recognized for his staged, surreal scenes of American homes and neighborhoods. He was born in Park Slope, a neighborhood in Brooklyn. In the mid 1980s, he studied photography at SUNY Purchase. He also received his Master of Fine Arts from Yale University. He has taught at Sarah Lawrence, Cooper Union, Vassar College and Yale University where he has been on the faculty since 1993.Â
Spanning over three decades, Crewdson’s work has been exhibited widely in the United States and Europe and is featured in many public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Brooklyn Museum; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC.
