Lawrence Kelsey was born in Lakewood, Ohio in 1948. His work mainly focuses on capturing the urban milieu of New York City for over 30 years, as well as landscapes and botanicals. He is widely revered as a premier painter of NYC in his signature style, which is a blend of the abstract with the representational. Kelsey's paintings reveal the psyche of the artist, the city and its residents as he paints scenes with sensitivity, lyricism and passion.
Kelsey has participated in over 20 solo exhibitions of his paintings, and is included in numerous private and corporate collections, as well as the NY Historical Society, and the NY Public Library.
